It’s named for the celebrated garden of its immediate neighbour, the Villa Rufolo, where composer Richard Wagner found inspiration for “the Magic Garden” of his last major work, “Parsifal”.
Our Garden, like the Villa, has what a visiting travel writer defined as “a view to die for.” with three wide terraces overlooking the Amalfi Coast: An official “World Heritage Site” that another lyrical line rates as “perhaps the most dramatic and inspirational meeting of land and sea on Earth.” In a way, Ravello has also been a place of pilgrimage for generations of writers & artists at least back to Boccaccio and his friend, Dante Alighieri. The village, as we view it, is an old-world “Carmel-on-the-Med.”
10 doubles, all – well appointed, all with bathrooms en suite and all but one with a small “Juliet” balcony & full sea-view. The exception looks out onto the mountains to the side and above the hotel.
The rooms are large enough to bring in a cot-bed for a child or a third adult. Two are family rooms, fitted with bunk-beds to sleep four.
air conditioning / heating, telephone, TV, mini-bar, room safe, bathroom with shower or bathtub, hairdryer, Free Internet WiFi
The style is unmistakable classic Italian and the accents are naturally local – the fishermen’s “catch of the day” and the equally fresh produce of the hillside farms, citrus orchards, and artisan “butchers, bakers and pasta-makers”. Fine wines and a taste, finally, of ‘limoncello” – the emblematic lemon liqueur of the Coast – are of course also offered with the meals.
